Sambhaji refused to convert to Islam and reveal the locations of his forts and hidden treasures.
After enduring severe torture for weeks, Sambhaji Maharaj was executed on March 11, 1689, at Tulapur on the banks of the Bhima river. His courage and refusal to succumb to pressure made him a symbol of resistance against Mughal rule.
